Am i actually playing combat training online in Balck Ops?

So I go into Mutiplayer>Playstation Network>Combat Training and just start game. Is that the way to play online or is it offline because everytime I play on it i keep getting highest scores and the players are too dumb to even notice me behind them and I just shank them. Thanks
