Name of career involving raising animals at research centers?

I watched Mutual of Omahas wild kingdom, it was an episode in which researchers in china were breeding giant pandas and I was inspired.Some of the workers in the research center actually handled and raised the newborn pandas. Does anyone know the name of this career? Thanks
