Hairstyles for thick hair that doesnt straighten well AT ALL?

my hair is pretty thick (but not jumbo). my straightener sucks but im not willing to buy another ($). does anyone know of any cute hairstyles i could try as a regular 'do' so that im not stuck with..this? something fairly quick(5 to 10 min) and simle! shanks!
